The diesel segment of cars has lately seen a troublesome time as automobile giant VW stopped its sales in America. The market is left with 12 diesel cars that have the EPA certification for sales in the US. These cars will breathe in new life in the otherwise stale diesel market that has met tremendous competition from electric vehicles.

Here are some of the best diesel cars that you can buy in 2018.

Chevrolet Colorado GT

The SLE package will bring in numerous upgrades to the standard model like heated front seats, power driver’s seat, remote engine starts and automatic climate control, rear parking sensors etc.

The SLT upgrade provides Driver Alert 1 and 2 packs with leather upholstery and infotainment package. Driver alert 2 helps in automatic braking and collision warning. You can also add special features like power liftgate and heated steering wheel.

The car is built to give you fuel economy like never before as its fuel statistics have been placed at 30 mpg-city and 41mpg-highway by EPA. The 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine produces a power of 180 hp and torque of 280 Ib-ft.

The car is studded with heated side mirrors, push start, LED headlights, automatic wipers, auto dimming mirrors etc. The 328 wagon will come with extra features as roof rails and panoramic sunroof.

Other cars to watch out are Jaguar XE, Jaguar XF, BMW X5 xDrive 35d and Range Rover Velar. 2018 looks promising for the diesel-oriented car market but its fate eventually depends upon the degree of demand shift towards battery powered vehicles.
